How many people live in the home?

Three residents, so everyone receives individual attention in a calm, family-like setting.

Is staff available 24/7?

Yes. Trained staff are on site around the clock, 7 days a week.

How are staff trained and screened?

All staff complete required background and registry checks, plus training in CPR and first aid, medication administration, abuse and neglect prevention, and person-centered support.

How are medications handled?

Trained staff give medications as prescribed, keep careful records and stay in contact with each resident's prescribers and pharmacy.

Can residents keep their own doctors?

Yes. We coordinate appointments and provide transportation.

Can residents go to school, work or day programs?

Yes. We support each resident's schedule and provide transportation, along with community outings based on their interests.

Can family members visit?

Yes. Families are encouraged to stay involved through visits, calls and planning meetings. Please contact us to arrange a visit.

How do I report a concern?

What is PsychStep Residential?

An HHSC-contracted provider of HCS and TxHmL waiver services. We operate a small 3-person home in Richmond, Texas with 24/7 support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with complex medical, behavioral and psychiatric needs.

What are the HCS and TxHmL programs?

Both are Texas Medicaid waiver programs run by HHSC for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. HCS includes group home living like ours; TxHmL supports people living in their own or family home.

Who is eligible?

Children and adults enrolled in HCS or TxHmL with a qualifying intellectual or developmental disability, as determined by their Local Intellectual and Developmental Disability Authority (LIDDA).

How do I make a referral?

Referrals usually come through the individual's LIDDA service coordinator. Families can also contact us directly at (346) 586-6935 or info@psychstepresidential.com.

What if my loved one isn't enrolled yet?

Contact your LIDDA to join the interest list: The Harris Center (Harris County), The Gulf Coast Center (Brazoria and Galveston) or Texana Center (Austin, Colorado, Fort Bend, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton).

Can I choose PsychStep as my provider?

Yes. Individuals and their legally authorized representatives have the right to choose their provider. Tell your service coordinator, or contact us and we'll help.

What does it cost?

Services are covered by the HCS or TxHmL Medicaid waiver. Residents pay room and board, usually from SSI or other income. We'll explain costs during your visit.

Greater Houston, including Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Austin, Colorado, Matagorda, Waller and Wharton Counties.
